Something to Say About Single Speed Track Bikes

When shopping bicycles many shoppers may not have much to say when they look at singles speed track bikes. However those who do a little bike racing may have a lot to say when they see one that is designed to what they need it to do during a race. Those products that have a lower gear will get a faster acceleration or jump as it is called. However a bigger gear is important I sustaining speed which is good for certain races. Knowing about bikes isn't just about the bike it is about the race it will be racing.

Racing on outdoor tracks is a little different then those who race on the on road tracks. Single speed track bikes would not handle well on the road and vice versa. Also getting the acceleration at the beginning of a track race may be done by what is known as a jump which they do not have in road racing. Choosing the right bike will help the racer have the best equipment and durability to win each race. Most times the fastest racer off of the jump is the one out in front because it is hard for those who do not get a good start to catch up. These bikes are also designed without brakes which would not be beneficial to an on road racer in fact it could be dangerous.

Those who are track bike racers may not care about the color or the design it has on it they may only care about what size gear the product has. Depending on the size of the gear will depend on the type of acceleration the bike will have. Lower gear on these bikes are better for acceleration while the bigger gear is for sustaining speed in a time trails or point races. Many times racers choose the lower gear and to sustain speed they practice daily to have faster pedaling speeds. Choosing a higher gear is beneficial for racers who will need to keep sustain their speeds as easily as possible. Time trails would be where the higher gear would benefit the racer to maintain their fastest speeds.

Bells and whistles will not win a short track race a great starting acceleration along with speed sustention provided mainly by the racers ability to pedal fast will help win races. Choosing from the selection of single speed track bikes will let riders choose one that fits their height and they are comfortable enough with to handle it properly during a race. Because these bikes are built for sprinting that is why they are more rigid where as road bikes are more light weight for the aerodynamics.

So the next time a family member passes a track bike those who know a little about bike racing can show off what they know and describe which type of bike they are looking at. Maybe everyone else will jump up and down about the color but the bike racer in the group may have something to say about the gears they find on the single speed track bikes on display.
